21)

i.
when i last updated, november had just begun. now it's practically almost december. needless to say, this month has kept me on my toes. i've been keeping busy with school (doing a lot of reading, writing lots of papers, studying for quizzes and exams). i can hardly believe that next week is the last week of class...with two days of class this week and finals during the second week of december, the fall semester is more or less on its last legs. i know i've still got a bit to accomplish between now and then but i can see the light at the end of the tunnel and it feels AMAZING.

in addition to the goodness that is school, this month i've also been participating in NaNoWriMo, otherwise known as national novel writing month. participants have from 11.1.09 to 11.30.09 to write 50,000 words. one month to write a novel. i've always wanted to attempt it and figured that this year was as good a year as any. we're coming up on the home stretch and i've still got a way to go yet but i think i'll reach that 50,000 word goal. i'm pretty much determined to do so!

thanksgiving is in two days and i'm incredibly excited! i'm looking forward to delicious food (turkey, mashed potatoes & gravy, and, best of all, pumpkin pie!), spending time with my sweet, wonderful family, and also, if everything goes according to plan, a trip to spring garden! (oh, how i miss you, my old stomping grounds. i long for your coffee and comfy booths and hours spent there laughing about everything and nothing). it'll be nice to have a bit of a break before the last week of class and then finals.

november has been good to us weather-wise...a few weekends ago the photographer and i took a trip to northwest illinois--lanark, savanna, and the mississippi palisades. it was SUCH a beautiful weekend...sunny and 65 degrees. we did some wandering and climbing of bluffs and ultimately had a really great time. (oh, and we also discovered another place that we hope to visit sometime soon.) i took a lot of photos, too; those will be here eventually.

all in all, i'd say life is pretty damn good.
